Friends/Family: She has a mother, father and a brother. Her mother's name is Lin Meng. She is a very gentle woman and is supportive of anything that her daughter wants to do. She was a stay at home mother and did everything necessary to make the house clean and presentable. She also helped the children with any homework they had as well as listening to them when they needed. She tried her best to be a good stay at home mother. She had given up her career as a dance instructor to help take care of her children.
Personality: Overall, Layla is a sweet girl; she can be described as the ‘girl next door’. She can be very doting on others and worries about whether her friends are alright or not. She is optimistic and tries to look at the bright side of things and whenever someone is feeling down she tries her best to cheer than up. Layla is usually the first to laugh at a joke and the last one to let something bother her.
Brief History: Layla was born to her parents, Marienne and Nicolas. She was brought up to appreciate the finer things in life as well as have an appreciation for God. She was raised to be obedient and to listen to everything that her parents said. Due to her wealth she had experience a rather poor social life. Either people befriended her because she was rich, or they ignored her because they thought she would be a snob. Her one close friend is Kat Pavlov, whom she has known since her last year of high school.
Her brother is very protective of her and is always looking out for her best interest. The two of them are very close and she looks up to him and whenever she needs advice she will go to him. Although a lot of times, her brother and herself don’t spend much time together but when they do, they are on the same wavelength and she loves being able to spend time with him.
Layla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia as a kid, but because it was detected early on, she was able to get treatment and did not have any serious repercussions. But every year she must go back and get tested to see if the cancerous cells have returned.
Layla has let the fact that the cancerous cells could return hold her back from experiencing life. She doesn’t have that many friends and even though she holds in interest in singing, she never pursues it further.
Kat and Layla met one day when Layla was hiding out from people behind a building and ran into Kat who was smoking. Layla of course reprimands her for smoking but Kat doesn’t care. Layla should have forgotten Kat after that encounter but Layla kept noticing her in the hallways and soon they started speak instead of giving each other looks. Their friendship wasn’t solidified until one day after school; Kat pulled infront of Layla in the parking lot and told her to get in. Layla didn’t question it and just hopped in, and from that point on they were able to get along.
Layla and Kat’s relationship grew, and they would spend generous amounts of time together, and although Layla does trust Kat, she still hasn’t told her about her leukemia.
Hobbies: Layla loves to read and write, and her parents enrolled her in violin and ballet classes when she was younger. She took a liking to singing later on, but never really. Her mother encourages her to cook, and Layla does like to bake.
Interesting Facts: She does not like her food touching as she eats, and can be a picky eater due to the fact that she is use to the finer things. She can be very naïve at times.
